About Us
NAP is a group of business owners interested in building solid relationships in Philadelphia, PA, and the neighboring communities. As an association, our members are committed to improving and maintaining the physical appearance of all our newsstands. We have a diverse owner population and have supported new members as they join the group.
Member Support
Our members are a visible reminder of the hope in the American Dream. Each arrives early and stays late at their newsstands to realize that dream.
One early morning, one of our members was attacked with acid thrown in her face as she opened her newsstand for business. The benevolent arm of our association stepped up and assisted with financial support in defraying her medical expenses.

Provider of Public Service
As newspaper circulation has declined, our association has become more of a public service provider to Philadelphia's citizens. Being part of the community is very important to our association and members. We have worked on combating illiteracy by sponsoring Newspapers in Education programs at Greenfield Elementary School and Freire Charter School.
An initiative was also proposed to help offset the demise of newsstand revenue by workers whose jobs have moved out of the city. With the City Council's support, our association will solicit additional advertising via the electronic display boards currently on some of our newsstands. We have yet to estimate what types of advertising we would want to be a part of this venture. Still, once our request is approved, we will donate a percentage of our advertising space to public service messages designed by an appropriate public agency.

Our Partnerships
Pennsylvania State Lottery
We are a significant outlet for sales of the Pennsylvania State Lottery tickets. Some of our members are open on Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate their regular Lottery customers.
PPA and SEPTA
Many of our newsstands also carry prepaid parking smart cards along with SEPTA tokens and a one-day transit pass for tourists visiting Philadelphia. The PPA and SEPTA have seen an increase in sales of both items since the association’s members began selling them.
Our Duties
As members of the Philadelphia Business Community, we pay:
- Business Privilege Tax
- Net Profit Tax
- Philadelphia School Tax
- Philadelphia State Sales Tax
The City Is Making a Comeback, and So Are Newsstands
Newsstand sales are beginning to improve because of the following initiatives taking place in Center City:
- Comcast workers are back in Center City.
- Center City’s shoppers and diners are back to almost pre-pandemic levels.
- Employees are returning to Center City.
- SEPTA increase in readership.
We are optimistic that the upward trend will continue. Contact us today to learn more about us and how we can serve your business.
